Pentas

Pentas are a SWFL plant that produce clusters of flowers with star shaped blooms. They come in a variety of colors, this weeks plants are the apple blossom color and a mixed bowl of pinks and purples. Full sun is essential for these blooms and in this heat it is important to water, when the soil is dry to touch make sure to water your plant all the way through. Pentas don’t need much maintenance, just fertilize with something like the Espoma Flower-tone. Deadheading helps the plant push out new blooms and keep the foliage nice and dark green. The blooms are also good for nectar, so you can add these guys to your butterfly or vegetable garden to attract pollinators like bees.
