Tropical Milkweed
Asclepias curassavica
not valid on prior purchases • cash & carry
Milkweed is the perfect plant to get your pollinator garden started. They are the host plant for monarch butterflies. Caterpillars feed on the leaves, while adult butterflies feed on the flower nectar. They produce bunches of red, orange, and yellow blooms throughout the year. Milkweed prefers full sun & can tolerate a variety of soil conditions. We recommend keeping your plants fertilized with Espoma Flower Tone. These plants regenerate quickly, which is great for keeping your caterpillars fed!
Fun Fact!
Milkweed gets their name from the milky sap they exude, which is loved by caterpillars. While monarchs are the most common caterpillar, Queen and Soldier caterpillars will also feed on milkweed.
