Geraniums need at least 5 hours of direct sun and absolutely love SWFL seasonally fall through spring. These bowls are accompanied by juncus grass, which makes a great addition in the center. Geraniums are very popular as a perennial bedding plant and have been a favorite among growers for many reasons. Not only are their bloom clusters eye-catching, but their foliage is also beautiful on its own, making it a great addition to mixed gardens or your landscape. To keep your geraniums blooming and looking their absolute best, deadheading is recommended and will keep new blooms coming. Once a cluster of blooms is spent, cut it off. This will help the plant put its energy into new growth, rather than using energy for blooms that are already dying off. Fertilizing is also a great way to keep your blooms coming. We recommend using the Jack’s water soluble 10-30-20 bloom boosting fertilizer along with an application of time released Dynamite Flower and Vegetable. These fertilizers are easy to apply and will help produce more flowers on your plant. Water when the soil is dry to the touch. Keep up these few steps and you will enjoy your geraniums all season long!

Geraniums are part of the Geraniaceae family with over 300 different species and thousands of cultivars, many of which have a scent to them. One of the most popular geraniums known for its smell is citronella. Citronella geraniums produce a citrus-like aroma that is used to deter pests, like mosquitos. If you look closely, you can see the resemblance in the stems and leaves of the plant and regular geraniums. Which geranium scent is your favorite?
