Mandevilla are part of the apocynaceae family, and the genus formally known as Dipladenia. These particular Mandevilla are a dwarfed variety with smaller leaves. Their large blooms will brighten up your landscape all year long. To keep them happy, place in a full sun area with at least 5+ hours of direct sunlight. Every few months, apply the Sure-Gro 6-8-10 fertilizer to promote new blooms. Being native to Central, South America and the southwestern portiaons of the US, they do well in our climate. If temperatures reach below 40, cover your plant or keep it in a protected area. They come in numerous vibrant colors and are a great addition to the landscape, or to keep as a centerpiece in a garden.
Fun Fact!
Mandevillas are named after the English diplomat and botanist, Henery Mandeville. They also have other common names including ‘Chilean Jasmine’ or ‘Rock Trumpet’. This is because of their growth habit and large trumpet shaped flowers.
