Schefflera arboricola, also known as a dwarf umbrella tree, are a versatile plant that can be used in any part of the landscape. They can take full sun or full shade. Schefflera arboricola can make a great mini hedge and are often used to block eyesores in the landscape like air conditioning units or pool equipment. While they are not extremely fast growers, they will produce a lot of new growth during the rainy season which allows them to be maintained and shaped to a desirable size. Schefflera arboricola are native to Taiwan and parts of China. Their palmate leaves are very tropical, and they enjoy our humidity in SWFL. Our sale includes both green and variegated arboricolas. Keep your arboricola fed with Sure-Gro 8-2-12 fertilizer and be sure to water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch.

Fun Fact!

Arboricola sometimes blooms! These blooms are clustered around a long stem and can be seen in a few colors. White and pink are more common for the arboricola, but the sister plant, schefflera amate produces larger, vibrant red flowers. It's been said the Schefflera blooms resemble an octopus and another nickname they have is "Octopus Plant."
