Curcumas are perennial bulbs, meaning once they are planted in your yard, they will return every year! These tropical leaves and gorgeous blooms will last from late spring to early fall, so you can enjoy the amazing flowers throughout the entire summer. They can take partial sun to full shade; full sun could cause yellowing or burning of their leaves. They do well in the ground and can handle our rainy summers. However, it is important to still fertilize even though their season is short. We recommend the organic Espoma brand flower-tone granular fertilizer. This will promote those beautiful blooms and encourage new growth of dark green leaves. The height of the plant can depend on the variety, for these particular varieties, can be about 3ft. Curcuma is the the ginger family, Zingiberacae, and both get rhizomes that are used for many different things. Curcumas are a favorite among tropical plant lovers and have some uses, check out the fun fact!
