Tibouchina spp.
not valid on prior purchases • cash & carry
Dwarf Tibouchina are small shrubs that produce a vibrant, deep purple flower. They have small dark green textured leaves. The buds on a tibouchina are a bright pink and contrast nicely with the deep purple. To produce their blooms, they need five + hours of sun and will appreciate a regular fertilizing with the 6-8-10 Sure-Gro fertilizer. Because of their small size of 3’x3’ they make a great small border plant, or they can add color around the base of trees and are perfect to keep in pots. Tibouchina will bloom on and off throughout the year but put on a spectacular show in the warm months of spring through the summer. Water when the soil is dry to the touch.
Did you know?
Tibouchina are not just small shrubs. There are a few other varieties of tibouchina that grow totally different. The tibouchina urvilleana has the same iconic flower but has velvety leaves. This variety will grow taller than the dwarf version. Tibouchina grandifolia has large round velvety leaves and produces a purple flower spike held up above the leaves. Tibouchina Granulosa also known as Purple Glory Tree has a large leathery textured leaf and grows into a stunning tree 15’ tall.
